Beginners Guide – The Classic L2

Welcome to the world of The Classic L2, a classic, challenging, and strategic MMORPG that aims to preserve the roots of Lineage, where every step counts. This guide is aimed at those who are starting now or want to refresh the basics of the game.

1. Choosing Your Race and Class

In The Classic L2, you begin by choosing one of the following races:

  • Humans: Balanced in damage and defense.
  • Elves: High speed and water/light magic.
  • Dark Elves: High physical and magical damage, but less defense.
  • Orcs: Raw strength, focused on melee combat and spiritual support.
  • Dwarves: Specialized in crafting and spoil (additional drop).

Throughout your journey, you will evolve through up to three class levels (jobs), starting at level 1 and progressing to the 3rd class around level 76.

2. Evolution System

  • 1st Class Change: Level 20 (via quest)
  • 2nd Class Change: Level 40 (via quest)
  • 3rd Class Change: Level 76 (via a longer quest)

Class changes are essential and always completed through specific quests.

3. Leveling Up

Levels 1 to 20:

  • Start by killing monsters near the starting city.
  • Complete the initial quests to obtain basic armor and weapons.

Levels 20 to 40:

  • Complete the 1st class change and head to areas such as:
  • Abandoned Camp
  • Orc Barracks
  • Cruma Marshlands

Levels 40 to 60:

  • Look for groups to farm in:
  • Cruma Tower
  • Execution Grounds
  • Outlaw Forest

Level 60+:

  • Focus on group spots such as:
  • Forest of Mirrors
  • The Cemetery
  • Varka Silenos / Ketra Orcs
  • Prepare for the 3rd class change.

4. Equipment and Adena

  • Weapons and armor are obtained through drops, crafting, or purchasing from other players.
  • Learn to use the spoil system (Dwarves – Bounty Hunter) to gather rare materials.
  • Be cautious of "sellers" scams, check the prices before buying.

5. Buffs and Support

  • Always seek buffers like Prophet, Warcryer, Bladedancer, and Swordsinger.
  • Playing without buffs in The Classic L2 makes progress much slower.
  • If possible, join a clan with support or play in a group.

6. PvP and PK

  • PvP is enabled in the open world, but be careful with the karma system when killing innocent players (PK).
  • Dying with karma can make you drop important items.
  • PvP is more common in contested zones, such as boss areas and farm spots.

7. Clan System

  • Clans offer support, buffs, wars, and access to castles.
  • Leveling up the clan requires active members and reputation.
  • Participate in Sieges and Clan Wars to stand out on the server.

8. Bosses and Raids

  • There are bosses for both small groups and large raids.
  • Killing bosses can yield jewels, weapons, skill books, and rare recipes.
  • Respawns are fixed or random, and there is fierce competition for them.

9. Beware of Karma and Drops

  • Dying with high karma may cause you to drop your own equipment.
  • Always be careful when starting PvP outside of safe zones.

10. Final Tips

  • Always use Soulshots or Spiritshots — they significantly increase damage.
  • Don’t try to play alone all the time: L2 is a group-based game.
  • Study your class evolution and decide which skills are worth upgrading.
  • Avoid spending Adena recklessly in the early levels. Focus on leveling up first.
